A lot has been made about the current state of the relationship between New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and his star quarterback, Tom Brady. From Belichick’s rumored antipathy toward Brady’s trainer, Alex Guerrero, to Brady’s decision to stay away from the team for most of the offseason, it’s been speculated that there’s a bit more tension between the two than in the past.

In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Brady was asked about whether there actually is tension between him and Belichick. In response, Brady professed his love of his head coach of two decades.

“Um, no. I mean, I love him. I love that he’s an incredible coach, mentor for me, and he’s pushed me in a lot of ways,” Brady said, via Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. “And, like everything, we don’t agree on absolutely everything. That’s relationships.”

It was a predictably safe answer from Brady, who is well-trained in the art of not saying nothing all that much. While his statement that he loves Belichick likely comes from a place of truth after all they’ve been through together, it seems as if he didn’t completely want to get into the potential issues they’re experiencing at the moment.

But regardless of whether or not Brady loves Belichick or vice versa, the two are still professionals. Unless something comes up that drastically alters their relationship, it’s more likely than not that the two will continue to do their best in order to win for as long as they stay together.
