There is no question that people hate the New England Patriots, which is a pretty common phenomenon when a team is so dominant. In the NBA, a lot of fans dislike the Golden State Warriors, and in hockey that's the case for the Chicago Blackhawks, which makes sense given their title winning ways.

Tom Brady has an interesting theory on exactly why he believes so many people hate the Patriots, mostly centered on the fact that the players don't compete against other countries.

“I think it's a different part about football, for example, in America,” Brady said via 247 Sports. “If you look at a lot of other sports around the world, at some point, you get to represent your country –– like the World Cup in the summer. I see all of these soccer players that play for these different clubs, but then come together for their country at some point. In America, we never get a chance to do that.

In soccer, each team plays for their home club during the season, but then the best players come together from each country and play against each other.  player might play for a rival club during the season, but a fan still cheer for them if they play for their country.

If Brady was the quarterback playing for the United States against a Canadian team, fans would be more likely to not hate him as much. It's a very interesting analogy; Brady might be on to something here with why so many people hate the Patriots.
