Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier missed the entire 2018 campaign and will be sidelined for all of 2019 after suffering a devastating spinal injury in December 2017. At this point, no one really knows for sure when—or if—Shazier will be back, but a recent progress video has everyone talking.

Including New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Brady took to Twitter to give Shazier some encouragement after seeing this video of him doing box jumps.

Good stuff from Brady and even better stuff from Shazier, who will still be on the Steelers' roster going into next season and will assist the club with his leadership ability.

“We will continue to support Ryan’s efforts to return to play,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said in a statement, per Bryan Deardo of 247 Sports.  “Although he won’t be able to help us on the field in 2019, his leadership, insight, and emotional support have always been very valuable to us, and we look forward to his contributions in our pursuit of a championship.”

Shazier, who played his collegiate football at Ohio State University, was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The 26-year-old earned back-to-back Pro Bowl selections in 2016 and 2017. Over 12 games during his most recent season, Shazier finished with 89 tackles, three interceptions, a couple of forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.

The Steelers are coming off of a 2018 campaign in which they went 9-6-1 and ended up missing the playoffs in spite of a 7-2-1 start, marking their first year without a postseason appearance since 2013.
