The New England Patriots duo of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will be heading into their 19th NFL season together. But while their relationship has changed in different ways over the years, Brady believes that he and his head coach are still on the same page in that they continue to share their main priorities professionally.

“I think our priorities are the same that they’ve always been, and I think that’s why we get along so well. We’re here to win,” Brady said, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.com. “It’s been a very professional environment he’s created, and I think I’m very lucky to be in that environment. I think he’s the best coach who ever coached in the NFL, and I feel very privileged to kind of be mentored by him as long as I have.”

It should be clear based on the several reports about their personal relationship Brady and Belichick aren’t exactly the best of friends. Nearly two decades of working together have taken their toll and have led to some friction between the two, particularly in the last couple of years.

But as Brady hints at, they continue to dominate the rest of the league because they can put aside whatever disagreements they may have because they just want to win that much. It really doesn’t matter that they like each other as people so long as they can work together as professionals.

As long as the two of them continue to share that overarching priority of winning above all else, the Patriots should remain one of the teams to beat.
