The New England Patriots finally got to name a player in the Tom Brady/Bill Belichick era to the Hall of Fame. Ty Law was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday but he believes there is a current Patriots cornerback who could find himself in Canton.

On the Patriots official Twitter account, Law said that Stephon Gilmore will join him in sporting a gold jacket soon. Gilmore was with the Hall of Fame cornerback while he was showing off his bust.

Is it plausible to believe that Gilmore could become a Hall of Famer by the end of his career? Anything is possible when it comes to the Patriots. It also helps when you have a Hall of Famer making a case for you.

As for Gilmore, he is coming off his best season in the NFL and his second season with the Patriots. New England tends to avoid paying lucrative contracts but the team handed Gilmore a five-year, $65 million deal in 2017.

When the Patriots give someone an expensive contract, you know that player is the real deal. And Gilmore has shown that by becoming one of the league's premier shutdown cornerbacks in the past two seasons.

Gilmore helped the Patriots suffocate the Los Angeles Rams offense to just three points in Super Bowl 53. If it weren't for Julian Edelman's historic game on offense, Gilmore would've taken home the Super Bowl MVP trophy.

At 28 years old, Gilmore has plenty of time to continue furthering his legacy. Whether he winds up making it into the Hall of Fame remains to be seen. The story of Stephon Gilmore continues in 2019 in his third season with the Patriots.
