Despite not being able to join his New England Patriots teammates at Super Bowl 53 in Atlanta this weekend, wide receiver Josh Gordon appears to be doing well. The former Cleveland Browns pass catcher has remained in the conversation all week long as, even with him absent in Atlanta, as Gordon continues to work his way back from some off-the-field issues down in Florida.

According to a Sunday afternoon report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Gordon is progressing well in his rehabilitation process. Not only that, but the prolific wide out — when on the field — could even return to New England by training camp. For now, though, Gordon remains suspended indefinitely for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement.

“It was just unfortunate how things went down and what happened,” fellow Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan said of Gordon, via NFL.com. “All I can say is, Josh was a great teammate. He worked really hard from the second he got there. You can tell how much he wanted to play and enjoyed it. That just blew me away. All he wanted was to make plays for us and to be a playmaker. It stinks that he's not out here with us, he was a big part of this team.”

Even in the absence of Gordon, the Patriots have continued to stay in front of the Rams while currently leading 10-3 late in the fourth quarter. Thanks to Julian Edelman, the void left by Gordon has not seemed so big down the stretch.
