New England Patriots fans were treated to the sight of hulking tight end Rob Gronkowski back on the field last Sunday, when he helped his team take down the New York Jets on the road to the tune of a 27-13 score. Like those fans, Patriots receiver Julian Edelman was also glad to see Gronk back, as he expressed his elation over the return of the 29-year-old tight end, via Tyler Sullivan of 247 Sports.

“I tried to cut off his block and get in,” Edelman said after the 27-13 win. “Kudos to Gronk for getting that done. There were a lot of other plays and things that he did. It’s great having him back.”

Edelman was also referring to a great block provided by Gronkowski that allowed him to score a 21-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

Gronkowski has missed three of New England’s previous four games due to issues with his back and ankle. The Patriots are hoping that his body won’t suffer any more breakdown the rest of the season, as they try to lock up a playoff seat and go on a deep postseason run.

Against the Jets, Gronkowski caught three passes on seven targets and turned them into 56 receiving yards to go with a touchdown. Edelman, on the other hand, paced the Pats with 84 receiving yards and a score on four catches and five targets.

Edelman, who was suspended earlier this season for four games due to a violation of the NFL’s policy on substance abuse, and Gronkowski will team up downfield again this coming weekend with a home date against the visiting Minnesota Vikings.
