The New England Patriots carved out an ugly victory against the winless New York Jets in Week 9 proceedings. However, at the end of the day, a win is still a win no matter how you get it, at least for Patriots quarterback Cam Newton via Zack Cox.

The lowly Jets unexpectedly posed an imminent threat to the Patriots who were having a sluggish start to the game. A huge 17-point scoring performance in the second quarter eventually lifted Gang Green to a 20-10 lead heading into halftime.

A back-and-forth affair commenced between the two teams at the start of the second half where the Jets immediately answered back on a touchdown by Patriots running back Rex Burkhead.

Newton's rushing prowess was on full display once again as he added two scoring drives along with 274 passing yards on a 27-of-35 pass completions. Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers had a big night as he found many ways to be open and caught a total of 169 receiving yards on 12 receptions.

On the opposite side of the field, Jets veteran quarterback Joe Flacco came out to play after recording 262 passing yards on 18-of-25 passes completed with three passing touchdowns. Despite his valiant efforts, the Jets were still unable to hold off the Patriots' comeback in the dying seconds of the game. A 51-yard field goal made by Patriots placekicker Nick Folk iced the 30-27 victory for Bill Belichick and his men.

The Patriots now improve to a 3-5 tally to nab third place in the AFC East while the Jets remain winless with a 0-9 record for the cellar-dwelling spot in the same division.

Cam Newton and the rest of his team will aim to come out with better performances as they hope to steal a win against the streaking Baltimore Ravens in Week 10.
