The New England Patriots are currently conducting a plan to replace Tom Brady, but those plans likely won't feature Cam Newton. Despite the apparent need at quarterback, Newton isn't currently on New England's radar.

The Patriots were thrown into an unfamiliar situation with Brady deciding to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in free agency. After 20 seasons with Brady, New England is left with Brian Hoyer, Jarrett Stidham, and Cody Kessler at quarterback.

Even though the Patriots are confident in Stidham, New England would be an ideal fit for Newton. However, it doesn't appear that the Patriots are looking to target the former first-round pick.

The Panthers tried to find a trade partner for Newton once they set their sights on signing Teddy Bridgewater in free agency. But after failing to find a team to take him, Carolina released the former MVP on Tuesday.

Over the past couple of seasons, Newton has been hindered by injuries to his shoulder and foot. Altogether, Newton has missed a total of 16 games since the 2018 campaign.

Earlier in his career, Bill Belichick exclaimed that Newton was one of the best mobile quarterbacks in the NFL. Plus, Belichick typically likes to take chances on low-risk, high-reward players. With Newton's recent injury history, it's unlikely that he'd command a lucrative contract from another team.

When Newton was released, everyone highlighted the Patriots as a likely landing spot for the dynamic signal-caller. But it seems as if Belichick is currently content with the quarterbacks that reside on the roster right now.
