The New England Patriots have already made a splash in free agency but they are also eyeing to do the same in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft. According to the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Patriots are reportedly planning to move up into the top 10 in order to have a greater chance of landing their prospective franchise quarterback in Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

Bill Belichick and the team currently own the 15th overall pick in the first round. However, they would without a doubt have to move up somewhere around the eighth pick and ninth pick which are possessed by the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos, respectively, if they truly want to land Fields.

Moving up into the top 10 will require the Patriots to give up significant assets in return. However, it will eventually pay off if they manage to nab the Buckeyes quarterback who is also expected to be selected early by one of the quarterback-needy teams inside the top 10.

In the event that they miss out on their target, the Patriots still have a plan B as they have already re-signed Cam Newton to a one-year deal. Despite the extension, the team is still eager to look for their quarterback of the future, especially if Newton fails to impress once again in the upcoming season.

With the NFL Draft fast approaching, the Patriots are expected to make significant moves in order to get their hands on a great young talent like Justin Fields. There is no doubt that the 22-year-old gunslinger would be a major part of the Patriots future going forward if he manages to find himself falling to their lap in the upcoming draft.
