Heading into the 2018 NFL Draft, there is a growing consensus that the New England Patriots are thinking about bringing in another quarterback that could be the eventual successor to reigning league MVP Tom Brady. There is a plethora of intriguing talent in this year's class at the position that could possibly fit the bill that the team is looking to land.

The Patriots have moved into the position to possibly acquire a promising quarterback early in the draft with a pair of selections in the first round. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, New England has some serious interest in former Louisville star Lamar Jackson.

There's been some persistent talk surrounding the Patriots over the last few weeks concerning their possible interest in Jackson. Among the top projected quarterbacks in this year's crop, he has often been left out of the mix for being a high first rounder. This could potentially put New England in the picture with the 23rd and 31st overall selection that they could either take him at those spots or move up in the first round to snag him.

The potential to land with the Patriots could become an intriguing spot for Jackson to learn under Brady and possibly be his eventual replacement. Although there have been questions concerning his accuracy, he has shown to be a dynamic talent with both his arm and legs throughout his three-year collegiate career at Louisville.

During that time, he became the first player notch at least 3,500 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards in back-to-back seasons while earning a Heisman Trophy in the process. Jackson also set the Louisville record for total offense (13,175 yards), rushing yards (4,132), rushing touchdowns (50) and total touchdowns (119).

With this chatter continuing to linger, the Patriots could be an active team on Thursday night looking to move into position to take Jackson in the first round. This has certainly become a situation to keep an eye on developing during this year's draft.
