The New England Patriots have had their way with the New York Jets on offense. It was only a matter of time before their defense started to make its presence felt.

Defensive end John Simon was able to strip-sack quarterback Sam Darnold during the second quarter, via The Checkdown:

The forced fumble could not have come at a better time with New York seemingly on their way to getting on the board. Simon's play had nearly resulted in six points for New England following a return from linebacker Kyle Van Noy, however, he was ultimately ruled down on the recovery.

Regardless, Simon still helped put the offense in prime position to take a 24-0 lead on the ensuing drive. He has managed to take advantage of his opportunities as a part of this elite defense with two sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble on the season. Helping the Patriots secure a potential shut out will only lead to an increase in playing time.
