New England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead returned to Cincinnati on Sunday, where he spent the first four seasons of his NFL career. During the fourth quarter, he put New England's victory essentially on ice with a 33-yard scamper into the end zone against the Bengals.

Burkhead entered Sunday having scored just one touchdown on the ground all season, constantly battling the duo of Sony Michel and James White for touches out of the backfield.

Prior to that carry, Burkhead had carried the ball just once for two yards. His second touch marked the longest rush of his seven-year career. His previous high of 31 yards came with the Patriots back during the 2017 year.

With the victory, New England retains the second seed in the AFC, moving closer to clinching the AFC East. Depending on how many touches he sees over the final three weeks, Burkhead could be in line to set a new single-season rushing high for his career.
