San Antonio Spurs forward/center Pau Gasol couldn't help but poke some fun at David Fizdale‘s $30,000 post-game rant, which criticized the officials for lack of free-throw calls for his Memphis Grizzlies.

Fizdale went on a stat-filled onslaught, comparing the number of shot attempts in the paint and free throws awarded to each team, claiming a massive disparity and a lack of respect for his team.

“I didn't get to the free-throw line yet this series,” Gasol joked Wednesday, according to the Melissa Rohlin of the San Antonio Express-News.

Of course, Gasol is nowhere near the low-post banger he used to be during his time with the Grizzlies and the Los Angeles Lakers — being rather used as a facilitating stretch-four like Boris Diaw used to be.

The 7-foot Spaniard was candid on his approach and noted how Fizdale has to pull out every stop to bring his team back to life as they head back home to Game 3 down 0-2 in the series.

“I think he's just trying to motivate his team, stand up for his team, that's it,” Gasol said. “There's no other twist about it. You have to get your team going and you do it whichever way is necessary, I guess.”

Gasol played a combined 55 minutes off the bench in the first two games of the series, scoring 16 points within both outings. The 36-year-old has gotten to the stripe a career-low 2.9 times per game this season, becoming more of a perimeter big this late into his career.
