The Atlanta Hawks will likely be forced to make a decision on the contract situation of their starting power forward, Paul Millsap, come summertime.

It has been reported that the four-time All-Star is planning to opt out of the final year of his current deal and test free agency, where he is expected to generate a lot of interest from around the league because of his experience and skill set.

Despite being 32-years-old now, Millsap has proven that he is still a force inside the paint and with a reliable perimeter jumper. He is also having one of his best seasons in the NBA this year with career-high averages of 18.1 points and 3.8 assists to go along with 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.

He is currently in the second of his three-year, $60 million contract, with an option to void the final year. With the cap also expected to increase even more, it will give the Hawks the chance to offer him a bigger contract, that would help them secure his services once again and not see him leave them for another team.

The team has been successful so far this season and are currently ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference. If they can make a lot of noise in the playoffs, it will help boost their chances of persuading Millsap to stay and continue making him part of their future plans.
