Having signed free agent point guard Jrue Holiday to a 5-year, $126 million deal earlier today, the New Orleans Pelicans are looking to bolster their investment, avidly seeking backcourt depth.

The Pels have their eyes set on shooting guard Nick Young and point guard Ty Lawson, looking to satisfy their outside shooting and playmaking needs, per NBA.com's David Aldridge.

The trio of talisman Anthony Davis, midseason acquisition DeMarcus Cousins, and Holiday combined to average 67.8 points per game last season, while the rest of the team only mustered a measly 36.5 points combined.

The Pelicans were the fifth least efficient team in points per 100 possessions in the league, according to Basketball-Reference.com — making those contributions rather essential for the team to move in an upward trajectory.

Young has developed into a strong three-point threat that can catch fire at any time, shooting a blistering 40.4 percent from deep last season. He averaged 13.2 points per game despite the many lineup changes under coach Luke Walton.

Lawson has had a major dip in his value after two disappointing seasons. The North Carolina alum averaged 9.9 points and 4.8 assists in 69 games with the Sacramento Kings last season.
