New Orleans Pelicans guard J.J. Redick has been around the block throughout his tenured NBA career. Then again, even the tested veteran has to admit that Pelicans rookie sensation Zion Williamson is unlike any other player he's ever had the privilege of paying with.

Redick recently opened up about what he thinks Williamson needs to do to really reach his potential:

“Then for Zion, again, I think it’s about consistency, being in the lineup and being available and being in shape,” Redick said, via Mark Medina of USA TODAY. “His skill level and his talent is an anomaly. There’s not many people in the history of the game that are able to do what he does with his size. For him, there’s no ceiling on what he can become as a player.”

Redick pretty much hit the nail on the head here with regards to his vision for Zion. There's no denying that the 20-year-old is a generational talent, but being consistent is going to be key to his success — especially early on in his career.

Fitness has perhaps been one of Williamson's weaknesses thus far, and his inability to make an impact for the Pelicans inside the bubble is testament to the same. Zion played in just four out of New Orleans' seven seeding games inside the Disney World campus, and he was on a strict minutes limit. He logged just 14 minutes in the opener, and did not even exceed the 28-minute mark in the other three games he participated in.

It's going to be a relatively brief offseason for Zion, and hopefully for the Pelicans, their prized youngster will be at one hundred percent once the new campaign tips off.
