New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday must be thinking he is a lucky man. That’s not because his team managed to make it to the playoffs despite losing DeMarcus Cousins or because the Pellies beat the odds and swept the favored Portland Trail Blazers in the first round. Rather, that’s due to the fact that his wife and daughter are both around to support him – a story, given the background, warms the heart of many people, including actor Ben Stiller.

Reacting to a piece by Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports about the Holidays, Stiller said he shares Jrue’s sentiment when it comes to family.

Jrue Holiday’s wife, Lauren, was diagnosed with a benign head tumor while she was pregnant with their daughter in 2016. Lauren’s health scare forced Holiday to miss the entire preseason and the first dozen of the regular season to be with his wife.

Lauren is fine now and is busying herself raising their family and, of course, supporting Holiday’s career.

With his family watching him, Holiday is playing some inspired basketball in these playoffs. In the Blazers series, he averaged 27.8 points on 56.8 percent shooting from the field, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. He is going to be a vital cog for the Pelicans in their upcoming Western Conference semifinals series against the defending league champions Golden State Warriors.

That series will begin this Saturday in Oakland, where the Pelicans will look to extend their five-game undefeated streak on the road.

As for Ben Stiller, he probably would like to meet the Holidays one of these days.
