New Orleans Pelicans big man Derrick Favors recently received some very high praise from head coach Alvin Gentry.

With Favors currently in the midst of his first season as a member of the Pelicans after a lengthy stint as a member of the Utah Jazz, Gentry now claims that the New Orleans big man is the most low-maintenance player that he has ever coached.

With the NBA producing more and more high-maintenance players every year, this is definitely a very high compliment from Gentry to Favors.

Favors originally broke into the league as a member of the New Jersey Nets back in the 2010-11 season. However, he made his way to Utah to join the Jazz shortly thereafter en route to spending parts of nine seasons with the Western Conference franchise.

The 28-year-old big man wouldn't even make it one full season in New Jersey after being selected by the Nets with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft out of Georgia Tech, but it would pave the way for a productive stint in Utah.

Over the course of his first 20 games as a member of the Pelicans, Favors has started 18 times and is currently averaging just under 24 minute per game. He is also averaging 8.9 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks per outing this 2019-20 campaign. For his NBA career as a whole, Favors is averaging 11.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 blocks across 25.7 minutes per game.

With former Duke Blue Devils standout Zion Williamson still making his way back from a lingering knee injury, Derrick Favors, Alvin Gentry and the Pelicans unfortunately remain in limbo in 2019-20.
