Since he signed with the New Orleans Pelicans only less than two weeks ago, Jameer Nelson has already made an impact for his new team. He has provided them with depth at the point guard rotation, especially with Rajon Rondo still out, and has also brought a lot of experience to their fold.

With his solid play so far, Alvin Gentry recently revealed that he has contemplated on starting Jameer Nelson. However, Jrue Holiday has been impressive as well, which made the veteran head coach opt to leave the starting unit the same.

Alvin Gentry's consideration to make him a starter speaks volumes on how good Nelson has been so far for the Pelicans. Through four games, the 35-year-old St. Joseph product is averaging 8.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 27.3 minutes per game. He has consistently been a spark for them off the bench, giving New Orleans instant offense and energy.

Despite his efforts though, the Pelicans are still struggling to string a few wins together. Now back with a 3-4 win-loss record, Gentry may be forced to shake things up should his team continue at this pace, and it could only be a matter of time before Nelson is inserted in the starting lineup.
