Anthony Davis is among the best players in the league, so it's no surprise Alvin Gentry believes his superstar big man is untouchable. The New Orleans Pelicans advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals last season, with Davis' unbelievable season playing a monster role in the team's success.

While Davis is incredible, there have already been rumblings about him going elsewhere, especially after he hired Rich Paul as his agent this summer. Gentry isn't worried about all that noise, and he even made a joke about the situation on Monday.

Via Andrew Lopez of The Times-Picayune:

“When you have someone who you can trade for anyone, I think that makes him the best. Or at least most valuable. … Now, we aren’t considering that. We wouldn’t trade him for anyone. Even Beyoncé. I think that makes him untouchable.”

The first thing a team needs to win in the NBA is a superstar they can build around. The Pelicans have that in Anthony Davis. Now it's about finding a running mate for Davis and putting together a strong supporting cast of role players.

It's not easy to build a successful roster in the age of superteams, but acquiring the superstar is the first step.

Gentry's comments are further evidence that the Pelicans are committed to building around Davis, and why wouldn't they be? He's a dominant offensive force with the ability to score from the inside or outside. Furthermore, Davis finished second in voting for Defensive Player of the Year. A player who can control the game on both sides of the floor is invaluable.

Davis has three years left on his current deal so don't expect to see the MVP candidate play anywhere else in the near future.
