New Orleans Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry confirms they will evaluate Anthony Davis' hip injury before announcing his status for Monday night's game against the Boston Celtics.

Anthony Davis picked up the injury in the first quarter of their game against the Detroit Pistons. The All-Star forward collided with teammate Tim Frazier and Detroit big man Blake Griffin, forcing him out for the rest of the half.

The 25-year-old was initially listed as doubtful to return, but he came back in the second half and went on to play 26 minutes to help New Orleans take down Detroit, 116-108.

Now, Alvin Gentry said that they will evaluate Davis and will see if he will experience pain before their game with the Celtics. The Pelicans coach, however, emphasized that their priority is to make sure the five-time All-Star is healthy and ready to go.

Davis is doing it all for the Pelicans, averaging 27.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.9 blocks per game. Except for the assist department, he is leading New Orleans in the other four categories.

The Kentucky Wildcats product has already missed four games this campaign. However, the Pelicans are 0-4 in those matches that Davis didn't feature in.
