While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, New Orleans Pelicans superstar forward Anthony Davis acknowledged there is still a possibility he could start next season in New Orleans.

Davis has already requested a trade, and the Pelicans are widely expected to move him this summer. However, if they don't find a deal to their liking, they could elect to keep him.

“I'm under contract still,” Davis said, via Nick Friedell of ESPN. “I have a year left. Obviously it's a possibility it could happen. I don't have ill will towards anybody. I know that it's a possibility that next year I could be here as well. So I can't be mad if I'm here next year.

“Seeing what happens. Seeing who the Pelicans make their GM and having a conversation with that person about the future. My time here has always been great. I love playing here. It's something that I will definitely hold in my heart forever, but the next step is waiting on the Pelicans [to fill] that GM job.”

The Pelicans didn't trade Davis at the February trade deadline despite a strong interest from the Los Angeles Lakers. The second half of the season was very awkward for AD and the New Orleans.

Davis got booed by Pelicans fans at home. The six-time All-Star didn't play in the final seven games of the season.
