Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans started the season 4-0 and were all smiles. Since then, however, the team is just 10-15 and has been riddled with injuries.

Starting point guard Elfrid Payton underwent surgery on a fractured left pinky in November, and the organization doesn't know when he will return to the lineup. Davis has missed a few games with some nagging ailments, while stretch forward Nikola Mirotic got sick recently and was forced to sit out.

As a result, the Pelicans have been unable to develop any type of rhythm. Anthony Davis, though, believes the team will turn things around once everyone is healthy and on the same page.

“For sure,” Davis said after scoring 41 points to go with seven rebounds in Monday's loss to the Boston Celtics, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN. “We had everybody healthy the first four games, and we went 4-0. Then Elfrid [Payton] goes down, I've been out a couple games, Niko [Mirotic] … a lot of guys have been out.

“Every time we've had a full roster, we've been a tough team to beat. But we still have to find a way to win. Injuries are part of the game, you can't control them. That's why we have 12 guys on the roster. You just need five guys to play. As long as you have that, you have a chance to win.”

On the season, Anthony Davis is putting up monster numbers, per usual. The five-time All-Star is averaging 27.4 points, 12.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 50.2 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc and 80.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Pelicans, though, are just 14-15 on the year, 10th place in the Western Conference.
