New Orleans Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin and superstar big man Anthony Davis are reportedly expected to meet next month to discuss Davis' future, according to Scott Kushner of The Advocate.

Davis requested a trade from the Pelicans before the February trade deadline. New Orleans opted not to trade him and it’s widely assumed they will try and trade him again this summer.

However, Griffin has said because he has a good relationship with Davis' agent — Rich Paul of Klutch Sports — there's reason to be optimistic about AD staying in New Orleans.

Sources say the two sides are expected to meet next month. There will be more information then, but even the concept of Davis wearing a Pelicans jersey again feels foreign, bearing in mind the tumultuous and alienating road he’s travelled in 2019.

Davis has one year left on his contract with the Pelicans. He can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020.

Davis was booed by Pelicans fans at home games after he made his trade request. The second half of the season was awkward for all parties involved.

At this point, it seems very unlikely Davis will be back with the Pelicans next season, but in this business, you never know.
