It appears that New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis has every intention of being with the organization for the long haul.

Despite endless rumors of the five-time All-Star's potential move away from New Orleans, Brian Windhorst of ESPN believes that Davis' recent actions have pointed to the fact that the 25-year-old remains fully committed to the Pelicans:

Davis has given no indication he wants to leave New Orleans. In fact, he has been dedicating himself toward the team over the past year more than ever before.

Windhorst went on to illustrate his declaration by pointing out what exactly Davis has been doing for his team so far this season:

He's playing through injuries. He's playing out of his preferred position. He has shown noticeable leadership growth. He's having a career season and has a real chance at the MVP award.

Windhorst does make a very valid argument here.

From a numbers standpoint, one cannot dispute Windhorst's statement about Davis' MVP-caliber season. The 6-foot-10 big man is currently averaging 28.0 points (on 50.3 percent shooting), 12.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 2.8 blocks, and just 2.3 turnovers in 37.0 minutes of action per game.

Including this season, Anthony Davis still has three more years on his current deal. However, he has a player option for the 2020-21 season. Without question, there is no better demonstration of Davis' level of commitment to the franchise than him penning another extension, hopefully before other teams are even given a chance to take their shot at arguably the best big man in the game today.
