New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis doesn't plan on requesting a trade this season, but the former No. 1 overall pick will evaluate his future in the offseason, according to Shams Charania of The Atheltic.

The Pelicans can offer Anthony Davis the supermax extension this summer. If he declines it, Davis can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2020 if he declines his 2020-21 player option with New Orleans.

The Pelicans may have to consider trading Anthony Davis this offseason if AD declines the supermax extension because they can't afford to lose the All-Star for nothing in free agency.

Davis has yet to reach the point this season where he will request a trade, but a full evaluation of his seven seasons in New Orleans likely will come in the offseason.

Anthony Davis will be seeing a hand specialist soon to confirm if he has an avulsion fracture in his left index finger. The five-time All-Star would likely miss two-to-four weeks if that is the case.

In 41 games this year for New Orleans, Davis is averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game. The Brow is shooting 50.8 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 81.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans enter Wednesday with a record of 22-25, good for 12th place in the Western Conference standings. If New Orleans misses the playoffs this year and Davis turns down the supermax extension in the offseason, there's a strong chance AD could be on the move in the summer.
