As of late, the New Orleans Pelicans (37-26) have been on an absolute roll and have won nine games in a row. Superstar power forward Anthony Davis and point guard Jrue Holiday have plenty to be happy about, with both of them contributing heavily to last night's 121-116 win over the L.A. Clippers at Staples Center.

In an interview with ClutchPoints' own Tomer Azarly, Davis revealed that he frequently checks the scores throughout the NBA and scans over the standings to see where the Pelicans, as well as everyone else, is currently at.

“That's the first thing I check. To see what everybody else is doing around the league as far as teams in the West to see who won, who lost and where we are in the standings,” Davis told Azarly. “I saw Dallas won and Houston beat OKC, so what we're trying to do is make sure that we're in a fight. Of course, we control our own destiny and we can't worry about other teams.”

Davis was an absolute monster on the night despite suffering a rib contusion with just over three minutes remaining in the first half. In 37 minutes of action, Davis went off for a whopping 41 points on 17-of-31 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds, three blocks, three steals and two assists.

Even Holiday, who finished second on the team in scoring with 19 points and had a game-high 17 assists on the night, admitted to Azarly that he is indeed a scoreboard watcher, as well.

“AD, are we fourth right now? Yeah, we're fourth right now,” Holiday said with a smile. “I think OKC lost and Denver lost. We do check it. It is a big deal. We take it one game at a time, but we definitely have to see what we're going up against. Tomorrow will be another big win if we so happen to finish out the road trip.”

The Pelicans will play the second game of a back-to-back tonight in search of their 10th straight win when they take on the lowly Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.
