The internet may have replaced television and the radio as the main sources of breaking NBA news, but the good old boob tube can still preempt social media news breakers from time to time. New Orleans Pelicans big man Antony Davis found that one out this summer.

In an appearance on CBS Sports, Davis revealed that he didn’t know DeMarcus Cousins had signed with the Golden State Warriors until he caught a whiff of it on TV. “I was watching on my TV, and I just saw it pop up,” said Davis, who led the Pelicans all the way into the second round of this year’s playoffs despite Cousins’ absence in the entire second half of the season.

Although the news came as a shock to Davis, he did not seem to have any resentment for Cousins.

“Of course I was a little shocked, I know DeMarcus, He made the best decision for him and his career at that time, and of course for his family.”

Cousins’ 2017-18 season ended last January when he went down with a nasty Achilles injury. He is not expected to be in uniform for the Warriors once the season begins a few months from now, but he can take his time recovering from the injury, as Golden State is not in an urgent need for an additional All-Star help on the court. They already have four of them outside of Cousins in Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant.

Anthony Davis will be circling his calendar once the schedules are released, though, as he is anticipating his next meeting with his former teammate.

“We’ll be seeing them down the road. Now he just has to guard me instead of us playing with each other.”
