When it comes to New Orleans Pelicans star power forward Anthony Davis and playing on one of the nation's biggest stages, he simply strives when the lights are brightest. For his performance on Sunday against the New York Knicks at the legendary Madison Square Garden, Davis did something that hadn't been done since Chicago Bulls legendary shooting guard Michael Jordan did it back in 1990.

According to a tweet from Pelicans beat writer Will Guillory of NOLA.com, Davis is the first player to score at least 48 points, nab at least 17 rebounds, and record at least four steals in one game since Jordan had 69 points, 18 rebounds, and four steals in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers way back on March 28, 1990.

That is simply an incredible statistic, as Davis finished with a season-high 48 points on 17-of-30 shots from the field and 12-of-15 from the charity stripe, a game-high 17 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots on Sunday at Madison Square Garden to propel the Pelicans to a 123-118 overtime victory against the Knicks.

Guillory also tweeted that in Davis' last three games played at MSG, the star power forward has averaged a whopping 41.3 points and 15.3 rebounds per game.

After the thrilling 123-118 overtime win, Davis immediately opened up to the media about the Pelicans' come-from-behind victory, which saw New Orleans trailing by as many as 19 points in the third quarter and 14 points in the fourth quarter.

“We might be down, but we're just not winning right now,” Davis said. “We just wanted to keep fighting, we came back at halftime, played some great defense and were able to come up with this win. They're a tough team and made some great plays, but we knew that we needed this one and guys just battled.”

Anthony Davis is an absolute beast, there's no doubt about that.
