Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans logged in a rare 5×5 game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Davis' performance makes him just the 10th player in NBA history to log in a 5 x 5 game. He had 12 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals.

However, Davis' stellar performance was met by a heartbreaking loss, 121-120. A look at the statistics would reveal the reason why Davis padded up his stats. He shot just 4-of-13 from the field. And when great players like Davis struggle to find the hoop, they look for other ways to contribute. However, his efforts weren't enough to carry his team to a victory.

Teammates Jrue Holiday and E'Twaun Moore logged in 30 points each. Julius Randle also chipped in 22 points and 10 rebounds. The loss puts the Pelicans at 10-8. It's a relatively slow start for a team that's considered to be a legitimate playoff contender.

The 76ers, meanwhile, got numerous contributions. They had six players in double figures in scoring, led by Joel Embiid who had 31 points, 19 rebounds, and two blocks. Ben Simmons had 22 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Rookie Landry Shamet had 15 points and was 4-of-6 from downtown. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler had a quiet 13 points and six rebounds. The 76ers have won four straight.
