When it comes to the New Orleans Pelicans, moving on from the devastating season-ending Achilles injury to All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins has not been easy whatsoever. However, Pels star power forward Anthony Davis feels that the addition of newly-acquired power forward Nikola Mirotic is making things easier for the team.

In a tweet on Wednesday from team writer Jim Eichenhofer of Pelicans.com, Davis opened up about the recent impact of Mirotic on the Pelicans and what he means to New Orleans going forward.

“He’s been fitting in very well with us, shooting the ball very well, playing great defense, rebounding the basketball,” Davis said of Mirotic. “We just find a way to complement each other. He brings a lot to our team.”

After the Pels' 118-103 key road win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, Nikola Mirotic stopped by to chat with Joel Meyers and David Wesley of FOX Sports New Orleans to chat about his 21-point, 12-rebound performance.

“It's been fun. The last two games, I think we've been acting as a team really good,” Mirotic said. “Offensively sharing the ball, finding the wide-open guy most of the time, and it has been really fun for me.”

Mirotic has looked very good for the Pels in his brief time with the team after being acquired via trade from the Chicago Bulls earlier this month. In just five games for New Orleans, Mirotic is currently averaging 15.4 points on 40.0 percent shooting from the field, 9.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game.

New Orleans is currently holding on to a very slim half-game lead over the L.A. Clippers for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoff race. Tonight on Valentine's Day, the Pelicans will host the young Los Angeles Lakers (23-32) at Smoothie King Center before heading into the All-Star Break.
