After a loss to the Miami Heat, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis says his team must “look in the mirror” to improve their disappointing 11-12 record to start the season. The Pelicans fell behind by as many as 31 points before attempting a comeback that went for naught.

The Pelicans' official site posted some interesting comments from Pelicans players, including Davis' obvious frustration after the game:

“We know what we have to do. We have to come out better. Everybody in here is a professional. We have to look in the mirror and take it upon ourselves to figure out what we can do individually, whether on the offensive end or defensive end, to come out with better starts.”

Anthony Davis has all the right to vent out his disappointment. The five-time All-Star exploded for 41 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in yet another losing effort. Point guard Jrue Holiday and power forward Nikola Mirotic also contributed on the offensive end, but it was their slow start that ultimately spelled the defeat. Davis also had something to say about falling behind by 20 points in just the first quarter of the game:

“It’s been an issue. Not every game. I think we have come out too lackadaisical at times. We have to come out and play these games the same way. We just have to come out and play the way we are supposed to play at all times. It’s tough playing down every game.”

Anthony Davis and the Pelicans will aim to get back on the winning track when they visit Kemba Walker and the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.
