Nearly a month ago, New Orleans Pelicans All-Star big man DeMarcus Cousins saw his first full season in the Big Easy come to an abrupt and shocking end after suffering a torn Achilles tendon. This unfortunately eliminated his opportunity to participate in his first All-Star Game as a member of the Pelicans.

According to Will Guillory of NOLA.com, his teammate Anthony Davis has put forth a touching gesture to Cousins by wearing his jersey for the contest.

It shows the strong bond that Cousins and Davis have built over their brief time together in New Orleans. The duo has become an effective pairing helping that saw them become the first player of teammates in Pelicans history to be both named starters in the same All-Star Game. They are also just the third pairing in team history to earn a spot in the All-Star Game.

Cousins had become a constant in the contest with his fourth straight selection and it would have been his first as a starter. He was also the seventh player in franchise history to be named an All-Star and third to be named a starter joining Davis and Chris Paul. He had been in the midst one of his most productive seasons as he was one of three players averaging at least 25.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

He also joined a few Hall of Famers in Charles Barkley, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor as the only player in league history to average at least 25.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game during a season. Despite suffering a torn Achilles tendon, the Pelicans will likely look to re-sign Cousins to a lucrative deal in free agency to keep the pairing of him and Davis together for the next several seasons.

In the meantime, this was simply a great gesture made by Davis to his teammate during the All-Star Game.
