In a surprise turn of events, New Orleans Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry says superstar big man Anthony Davis will play on Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Pelicans played on Friday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. The prevailing thought was that Anthony Davis wouldn't play in back-to-backs for the rest of the season.

At least for one night, that doesn't appear to be the case.

Davis has requested a trade and will most likely be moved by the franchise in the summer. New Orleans is taking a big risk by playing Davis, as they will be in big trouble if he gets hurt.

The NBA is reportedly forcing the Pelicans to play Davis for the rest of the season, though, as teams aren't allowed to sit players intentionally while they are healthy.

Davis sat out the entire fourth quarter on Friday against the Timberwolves. The Brow finished with 32 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and two assists in just 25 minutes of action in the Pelicans' 122-117 win over Minnesota.

Let's see how many minutes Davis plays against the Grizzlies. New Orleans is 25-31 on the season, 13th place in the Western Conference standings. The team would have to go on a serious winning streak to get into the playoff picture at this point.
