All-Star forward Brandon Ingram has had a tremendous season with the New Orleans Pelicans since making the move from the Los Angeles Lakers last summer, earning a nomination for Most Improved Player. The 22-year-old recently opened up about how he believes his time in Los Angeles served as a huge learning experience for him and his career moving forward.

According to Ingram, the whole Hollywood experience helped him deal with attention easier:

“It’s always been easy, but it’s way easier now that I’ve been through the Laker part – been through that media and stuff,” he said, via Kyle Goon of the Orange Country Register. “It was easy before, but it’s way easier now just to block everything out.”

Brandon Ingram then discussed how the demanding nature of Lakers fans also aided in his development. He made it clear, however, that he still has much love for the Lakers faithful:

“I think it’s love from each end, because if it was a bad remark or a negative remark, maybe go back, retune something and get better at it,” he said. “If it was a good remark, then I thank them for knowing the game of basketball and the person that I am, and that I was gonna get better. So it’s all love from each side. I still got love for the Laker fans, I still got love for the Duke fans.

He then paused, and smiled again: “And I got hella love for everybody in New Orleans.”

Clearly, Ingram is loving life with his new team.

Brandon Ingram helped the Pelicans to an important victory on Friday against the Washington Wizards — their second win out of five seeding games thus far. New Orleans is currently two and a half games outside the playoff picture in the West, and the club basically has to win its three remaining games to give them a shot at stealing a spot for the postseason in a ruthless Western Conference. The Memphis Grizzlies hold the No. 8 seed, while the Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, and San Antonio Spurs are all ahead of New Orleans.
