As part of a recent interview with Scott Kushner of The Times Picayune in New Orleans, Pelicans Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin revealed that JJ Redick was the team's top target in this summer's free agency.

Redick, now 35 years of age, has established himself as one of the best shooters in the NBA. And in fact, some experts feel that the former Duke standout is among the greatest marksman of all-time. As the record stands today, Redick is ranked 21st on the NBA's all-time list for 3-pointers made (1,704) and 18th in percentage (41.2 percent from beyond the arc).

The Pelicans announced that they had signed Redick on Monday, though the full details of his deal were not released.

“JJ Redick is among the very best shooters and professionals in league history,” Griffin said in an official statement from the team. “Coming off perhaps the best season of his remarkable career, his on-the-court resumé speaks for itself. However, it was his desire to dive into the role of mentor and veteran leader that spoke most directly to us and has us most excited about our future together. We are thrilled to be able to welcome JJ and his family to New Orleans and our community.”

In 76 appearances with the Sixers during their 2018-19 regular season campaign, Redick racked up averages of 18.1 points on 44.0 percent shooting from the field (39.7 percent from beyond the arc), 2.7 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 31.3 minutes per outing.

All things considered, Redick should be a solid pickup for the Pelicans.
