New Orleans Pelicans vice President David Griffin has always known that he wanted to be the general manager of an NBA team. On Tuesday, Griffin went on to ‘Big Questions with Cal Fussman' and detailed the first moment he became determined to assemble a championship-winning team:

“Part of family history is when I was six years old, The Phoenix Suns lost to the Boston Celtics in triple overtime in 1976 in the finals. I remember that games that believes Game five was the shot heard around the world from Gar Heard and I was watching the game and we end up losing the game and I storm out of the room and I stormed back in the room and tears, and I say, I'm going to be better than Jerry Colangelo. I'm gonna win a championship.”

Griffin would end up fulfilling the goal he set as a six-year-old. As GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Griffin would assemble a team led by LeBron James that would win the 2016 championship, and make three Finals appearances.

Now, Griffin will attempt to do the same in New Orleans. He is already off to a great start. The team is bursting with young potential, with players like Zion Williamson, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram.

It might take a few years, but Griffin has a shot at capturing his second championship and once again accomplishing his dream.
