DeMarcus Cousins is confident his frontcourt partner in crime, Anthony Davis, will remain with the New Orleans Pelicans and re-sign with the team this summer, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

The injured big man was adamant on wanting to play next to him, and while he noted it wasn't his decision to make, he was optimistic The Brow would feel the same way.

“I hope so,” said Cousins. “That's a decision he has to make. I'm pretty confident that he'll stay. From what I hear, he plans on it. But I'm going to keep selling the dream here. I'll be very involved — I want him here.”

Fire and Ice have been the most destructive force of nature of any frontcourt in the NBA — two incredibly dynamic, versatile players averaging a double-double and willing to make plays at both ends of the court.

Before Cousins' injury, both big men were on a pace to become the first teammates in league history to post at least 25 points and 10 rebounds over the course of a full season and been voted in as All-Star starters, per Stein.

New Orleans was close to offering Boogie a five-year, $175 max contract, but they will have to think twice as he will only be a few months into his recovery.

Cousins' ruptured patella has gotten in the way of the two chasing the dream together, but it's been Davis who has carried the torch, leading the Pelicans to nine straight wins after yesterday's 121-116 victory over the L.A. Clippers.

A successful playoff run could give Davis plenty of reason to stay and given New Orleans plenty of enticement to keep this core of players together and build for their bright future.
