DeMarcus Cousins is public enemy No. 1 in the NBA right now. After the star big man decided to leave the New Orleans Pelicans and sign a one-year deal with the two-time defending champion Golden State Warriors, the backlash has been fierce.
A number of fans feel that he is ruining the NBA by making a third-straight Warriors championship a foregone conclusion. He's joining a team that rolled to titles in three of the last four years.
But, despite the vitriol that Cousins is facing for his decision, he posted a farewell message to the fans of the Pelicans on his Instagram.

The Kentucky product only played parts of two seasons with the Pelicans, but this is a classy move despite what many people are saying about the big man.
Cousins is one of those guys that people will always find a way to blame. For most of his career, he was labeled as a selfish player who only cares about himself. It was long thought that he put his personal accomplishments and statistics above what was best for the team. Now, he's taking a sizeable pay cut to win a championship.
Conversely, landing in Golden State could lead to an even bigger payday for Cousins next summer. He is coming off a devastating Achilles injury that could be career-threatening. Perhaps, a season with the Warriors will be enough to prove he's healthy, and another team will come calling.
Cousins had an impact in New Orleans during his time, despite how brief it was. This farewell message is a proper thank you.
