Derrick Favors made a heartfelt message to the Utah Jazz and their fans before officially leaving the franchise for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Favors had a farewell post on Instagram, where he thanked the Jazz for the eight and half seasons he spent with the franchise, expressing gratitude to his teammates, coaching staff, and the entire organization. He also gave a shout out to Jazz fans who showed him love throughout his stay in Salt Lake City.

The 27-year-old power forward also expressed excitement with the new chapter of his career. He will be joining the New Orleans Pelicans, who acquired him in a trade with the Jazz, wherein they had to send their 2021 and 2023 second-round picks they acquired from the Golden State Warriors.

The Pelicans are viewed as one of the most intriguing teams next season. New Orleans selected Zion Williamson as the first overall pick in the draft. They also traded Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, and two first-round picks.

Favors' stint in Utah was hanging in the balance since the offseason started. He still has a year left in his contract that will pay him $16.9 million, which was not guaranteed until July 6. He became dispensable after the Jazz used their cap space in an agreed four-year, $73 million deal with Bojan Bogdanovic.
