Zion Williamson has been nothing but spectacular for the New Orleans Pelicans ever since he entered their starting lineup. The rookie has put everyone on notice — coaches, fellow players, fans, and the media — with his strong, explosive playing style.

Now, according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, even Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has been impressed by Zion and his recent play. However, Vogel clarified that he has already high expectations on Williamson, whom he has been watching since the rookie's time in Duke.

“He’s really a dynamic weapon and he completes them, Vogel said of Zion.

“I’ve always been a big fan of his. I did the Get Up show on ESPN, I was a media member once like you guys, and I did it the morning after he went 13-for-13 against Syracuse last year. Watched the clips over and over again. His star power is real and he continues to live up to the hype. He’s going to have a great career.”

One of the most-anticipated matchups in Williamson’s young career was against LeBron James. And on Sunday night, Zion marched his way to a career-high 35 points in a losing effort for the Pelicans.

While LeBron ended up with a triple-double, Zion undoubtedly impressed. He displayed utter dominance while being guarded by Kyle Kuzma, completely taking advantage of the absence of Anthony Davis and bullying his way to the rim.

It is Zion Williamson's third 30-point performance, and it’s hard to forget that he has only played 15 games total. Although the Pelicans took a loss, they still need only three more games to catch up with the eighth-seeded Grizzlies.

If Zion continues to accelerate from here on, no one would be surprised if he leads the Pelicans to the last playoff spot. And if they do, fans have a whole postseason to watch the LeBron-Zion show.
