Just like the entire NBA community, Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is bummed about the news that New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has undergone surgery for a torn lateral meniscus in his right knee and will miss six to eight weeks.

Morant took to twitter to send positive vibes toward Williamson, who was the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft.

Williamson suffered a Grade 1 right knee strain last season at Duke. Observers have noticed that the Pelicans rookie often times walks around with a limp.

In his lone season at Duke, Williamson put on an absolute show. The high-flyer averagedĀ 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 68.0 percent from the field, 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 64.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Williamson is the new face of the Pelicans franchise in the post-Anthony Davis era. This isn't how anyone in New Orleans wanted to see Zion's NBA career begin.

Morant will see his Rookie of the Year odds increase now. The Grizzlies traded franchise iconĀ Mike ConleyĀ to theĀ Utah Jazz this summer. Grizzlies fans are going to miss Conley, but they are really excited for the Morant era to begin.

Ja averagedĀ 24.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 10.0 assists per game last season at Murray State while shooting 49.9 percent from the floor, 36.3 percent from the 3-point line and 81.3 percent from the charity stripe.
