New Orleans Pelicans veteran JJ Redick sees a high ceiling for his young teammate and former No.2 overall pick Lonzo Ball.

During his media availability on Saturday, the Pelicans sharpshooter heaped praised on both Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball, two former Los Angeles Lakers players who were sent to New Orleans in the Anthony Davis trade.

Moreover, with Brandon Ingram making the All-Star team in 2020, Redick predicts the same for Ball sooner rather than later.

“I think both those guys have taken steps forward. The scary thing is they probably haven't reached their ceiling yet. They're such young players and have such physical gifts that they're still learning how to use, but both those guys took huge steps forward. You saw BI (Brandon Ingram) make an All-Star Game and Lonzo will be an All-Star someday. So both those guys have such a bright future, and as their teammate it's great to see them improve and play at such a high level,” the Pelicans vet said.

For what it's worth, Brandon Ingram was averaging 24.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game before the season was suspended in March. With his performance, he has catapulted himself as the leading candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year.

Lonzo Ball, meanwhile, has also set career-highs this 2019-20. The former UCLA point guard was putting up 12.4 points, 6.2 boards and 7.0 dimes in 56 games for the Pelicans in the regular season.

It remains to be seen if JJ Redick's prediction for Ball will come true, but he's certainly optimistic about the future of the young playmaker.

As for their situation in Orlando, Redick expressed his confidence about the Pelicans' progress while praising the league for the set-up in Orlando.

“I think we're in a good position. We've probably gotten up and down full-court and scrimmaged…as much as anybody. We've had eight days of live basketball with contact, so we've gotten after it,” Redick added. “I think the NBA has done an amazing job in pulling this thing off.”
