The New Orleans Pelicans will be without shooting guard JJ Redick on Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Redick suffered a hamstring injury on Friday versus the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers.

Redick has appeared in 54 games for the Pelicans this season. He's averaging 14.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 45.2 percent from beyond the arc and 90.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans are 26-33 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Western Conference standings and just two games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the eight spot in the West. Basketball fans everywhere, not just in New Orleans, are hoping the Pels can make the postseason so they can see Zion Williamson in the playoffs.

Redick has never missed the playoffs in his NBA career. The veteran sharpshooter told Williamson at the beginning of the season to not mess up his playoff streak. We'll see if Zion can keep his promise.

Now 35, JJ Redick has career NBA averages of 13.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He's still one of the best shooters in the league.
