New Orleans Pelicans sharpshooter JJ Redick is thrilled about receiving an invitation to play for Team USA in the upcoming training camp in Las Vegas next month, along with the prospect to take part in the final 12-man roster that will play in the FIBA World Cup, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski:

“I'm thrilled beyond belief to be considered but also trying to work through our family's transition to New Orleans,” said Redick, who expects to have an answer soon.

Redick recently inked a two-year deal worth $26.5 million after spending his last two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers. The marksman figures as a starter next to point guard Jrue Holiday, and like more than a third of the league, will have to adjust to his new team after a free-agency extravaganza early this month.

The 35-year-old sniper, however, is no stranger to playing for his country, as a former member of the 2003 USA Men's Junior World Championship Team. Redick was also part of USA Basketball's Under-21 team, which won gold medals at the World Championships and the Global Games.

Redick was named to the USA Basketball roster from 2006-08, and while he competed for a spot with the 2008 Olympic “Redeem” Team, he did not make the cut for the final roster.

Due to a multitude of withdrawals, USA Basketball has been forced to open up the pool of candidates, inviting many other Americans like Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and Julius Randle.
