Former Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Josh Hart is having a career year so far with the New Orleans Pelicans. The 24-year-old Villanova product was included in the blockbuster Anthony Davis trade this past summer between the two Western Conference teams, which included his teammate transfers Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball.

Hart was surprised by the big deal though, which occurred on the eve of the 2019 NBA Draft last June.

Per Christian Clark of Nola.com:

“To be honest, if you look at all the trade rumors and all the trade stuff that got out, my name really wasn’t it,” Hart said. “There were packages. I’m sure my name was in some of the packages. But anything that got out, my name wasn’t in it. Even right before it happened, my name wasn't in it. The only time my name was in it was when it actually happened.”

Hart revealed that he didn't see his name included in “trade rumors,” which were swirling around Davis and the Lakers since last season.

Despite the surprise shake up Hart had to experience just two seasons into his tenure with the Lakers, the former first-round pick from the 2017 draft is tearing it up with the Pelicans this year. He is averaging 12.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game through 10 appearances and four starts with the club.
