New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday plans to organize a mini training camp in August since New Orleans has so many new players on the team.

The Pelicans acquired Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Josh Hart from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis trade, acquired veteran big man Derrick Favors from the Utah Jazz, signed sharpshooter JJ Redick in free agency, and drafted Zion Williamson, Jaxson Hayes, Marcos Louzada Silva and Nickeil Alexander-Walker in the 2019 NBA Draft.

By late August, he’s planning to spearhead a mini training camp in either New Orleans or L.A., gathering as many teammates as he can onto the same court and mimicking full-court practices.

“We have so many new guys I think we need something like that for chemistry,” Holiday said.

The Pelicans had a great offseason. David Griffin got a tremendous haul for Anthony Davis. The acquisitions of Derrick Favors and JJ Redick were huge, too.

The Pelicans are going to go as far as Jrue Holiday can take them. New Orleans is officially Holiday's team with Davis in Los Angeles. The 29-year-old is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He averaged 21.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists last season while shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 76.8 percent from the free-throw line.
