New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday has been through a lot in his 10-plus seasons in the NBA. But this might be the lowest point of his career.

Holiday and the Pelicans lost a franchise-record 12th consecutive game after they were defeated by the Orlando Magic on Sunday afternoon, and Holiday was despondent when asked about the losing streak:

The former UCLA standout has had it tough in recent years.

The Anthony Davis fallout marred what was the best season of Holiday's career last year, and he has not been to the playoffs since 2015.

Holiday was expected to be the leader for a Pelicans squad primed to make a playoff run after they acquired Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram from the Los Angeles Lakers and selecting Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick, but things have not gone according to plan.

Williamson has yet to play in the regular season due to an arthroscopic procedure on his knee. Ingram has been tremendous, but Ball has been rather underwhelming in his third season.

Holiday himself has recovered from a slow start to be one of the more effective offensive threats on the roster. He entered Sunday's game averaging 19.0 points, 6.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds, and he torched the Magic for 29 points, eight assists and four rebounds on 12-of-20 shooting from the field.

But Holiday–a terrific defender–has not been able to make up for his teammates' shortcomings, as the Pelicans rank 29th in opponents scoring average. There is little solace in individual brilliance if the team cannot succeed, and Holiday is feeling the effects of losing.
