New Orleans Pelicans veteran guard Jrue Holiday will miss Saturday's clash with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Holiday, 29, will miss his seventh straight game on Saturda. The Pelicans are calling the injury a left elbow tricep strain. They need all the help they can get against the Clippers this weekend. Fortunately, for them, All-Star Paul George will sit due to a hamstring injury.

With first overall pick Zion Williamson's regular-season debut about a week away, the Pelicans have leaned on fourth-year forward Brandon Ingram. Ingram scored a single-game career-high 49 points on Thursday against the Utah Jazz. Not to mention he converted on the game-winning jump shot. While it's difficult to project a rookie power forward being the difference-maker and betting the season on the Duke product, Williamson's addition to the lineup is expected to be a power punch for New Orleans.

Holiday has been averaging 19.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game for the Pelicans. He's converted on 43.8% from the field, 34.2% from 3-point range, and 70.8% from the free throw line.

In another stroke of luck, the Pelicans also so happen to have the easiest strength of schedule for the remaining 2019-20 campaign. It adds to the notion that NOLA could fight for the last spot in the competitive Western Conference playoff field. At 16-26 it's a stretch to believe the Pelicans are that good, but the mysterious factor of Williamson's looming debut is that complimentary of the rookie's on-court abilities.
